NevadaGrown Local Food Program – Eligibility
Farms
- Farms (and restaurant gardens that grow their own produce and/or herbs) must meet the following criteria in order to be approved as a Partner in the NevadaGrown Local Food Program:
- The owner of the farm must reside and/or own property or a business in Nevada.
- All agricultural products marketed under the NevadaGrown logo must be grown in Nevada.
- The Farm must grow or raise the agricultural products that it sells.
- NevadaGrown promotional materials including the logo are restricted in use to Partners in good standing.
- The Farm must offer product for sale commercially.
- All processed agricultural products marketed under the NevadaGrown logo must contain a minimum of 60% ingredients that are grown in Nevada.
- Producers using the NevadaGrown logo must have a current producer’s certificate or organic certification from the Nevada Department of Agriculture that confirms Nevada production.
- Permission to use the NevadaGrown promotional materials including the logo can be withdrawn for failure to adhere to Program agreement.
Restaurants
- Restaurants must meet the following criteria in order to be approved as a Partner in the Local Food Program:
- The Restaurant must consistently use one or more featured or primary ingredients that are sourced from a Partner Farm and/or Processor (to “consistently use” means having at least one standard menu item and/or a weekly special throughout the available growing season in which a primary ingredient is from a Partner Farm or Processor), and
- Is located in Nevada.
- Partner Restaurants will be allowed to use the NevadaGrown logo in ways that promote menu items that include products sourced from Partner Farms and Processors.
NOTE: Restaurants that grow their own produce and/or herbs must additionally submit an application on behalf of their restaurant’s garden as a “Farm” in order to be approved and receive Partner benefits.
Grocers
- Grocery Stores (and Cooperative Grocers) must meet the following criteria in order to be approved asa Partner in the Local Food Program:a.
- Provide a regular selection of in-season locally-grown and/or locally-crafted products from Partner Farms and/or Processors (a “regular selection” means having products from a Partner Farm or Processor available for purchase throughout the available growing season),and
- Be located in Nevada.2. Partner Grocers will be allowed to use the NevadaGrown logo in ways that promote products sourced from Partner Farms and Processors
Food Artisans / Processors
- Processors (such as butcher shops, bakeries, and commercial kitchens) must meet the followingcriteria in order to be approved as a NevadaGrown Partner in the Local Food Program:
- The business must be located in Nevada.
- The business must consistently use one or more featured or primary ingredient in their production that is sourced from a Partner Farm. The use of those ingredients must be featured throughout the available growing season.
- Partner Processors will be able to place the NevadaGrown logo on eligible products.
Farmers Markets
- Farmers markets must meet the following criteria in order to be approved as a Partner in the NevadaGrown Local Food Program:
- The Market must be a member in good standing of the Nevada Certified Farmers Market Association.
- The Market must regularly include at least one Partner Farm, and
- Must be located in Nevada.
- Partner Markets should encourage their vendor Farms and Processors to apply to become Partners in the NevadaGrown Local Food Program.
